Other info : I don't believe this model is in the Master Book, or at least I haven't spotted a match. I've had this model before, but in 14k green gold with an enamel (non-luminous) dial (see below). The hinged case is fairly large at 39x25mm with a 19mm strap. For "wrist presence," it's roughly comparable to an Imperial Tank.

Nice looking watch, John!

Have you looked closely at Strap 335 (MB pg. 56)? Case looks very much like yours. True that it is shown with a cal. 400, but it wouldn't be the first example of Gruen using the same case with a different sized movement. Just a thought.

Thanks, Liz! Too bad I don't still have it (although I'm sure whatever I sold it to finance was nice too).
I'll take a look at strap 335 tonight, but I sort of doubt it. Some watches with Swiss cases (including at least one Gruen-Weber) made it into the Strap or Quadron categories rather than the Import section, but I don't think this is one of them. And I think it predates the cal. 400 by too many years for it to be an alternate version.

Nope, not the same watch. The Strap 335 turns up on eBay from time to time. It's definitely a much later watch. And although the book says it was made in 14k, I've never seen one, but plenty in gold fill. It's actually a model I happen to like too. The case is rather chunky in a good way. If I ever saw one in 14k, I'd be interested.
Anyway, I'm pretty confident this one isn't in the Master book. I've got a few that aren't, so I don't find it terribly surprising. Import 97 is pretty similar, but the taper of the lugs is different. Import 127 is too, but not a match. Nothing else is really even close.
