Hi, I have 3 gruen carre' pocket watches and one of them does not have the original crown. It is shaped to a point and has facets. I need one of these crowns to complete this watch. Very interested in acquiring one, thanks, Dennis

I have a number of bottles with crowns but I don't know anything about the Carre (other than I would love to add one to my collection). Does it have an official style number?

Hi, if you google gruen carre' you should get a good idea. This is a pocket watch that opens up and will stand up to make it a travel table clock. I have the lizard skin carre' that you see in advertisements, a stainless steel one ingraved H. M. Sweetman ( Google his name ) . And also a black and white enameled carre' . At some point I will sell them , but not right now. In some of the pictures you can see the favored pointed crown, that's what I need, thanks for your interest. Dennis

Oops, I should have said that I know nothing about the Carre parts.

Sounds like you have some great pieces, I know the ones you are talking about. I've looked through my bottles and am not seeing any of the pointed crowns.

Pictures in the discussion section would be fun...

Can't help with parts... as I recall these crowns are hard to find. However, the style was not unique to Gruen. Maybe some level of interchangeability; gotta remember what the other brands were...

There was at least the French brand LIP that sold the same model as ECLIPSO. In fact Gruen got the rights to market the CARRE from LIP.

From what I can see the ECLIPSO featured the same crown shape as the CARRE, which you can see best on the first add below. Unfortunately the picture of an actual ECLIPSE at the bottom seem to have the same problem you have. The ECLIPSO is as rare as the CARRE unfortunately, but it will at least increase your chances to find one. Dunno if LIP used the same movement, so the crown tap size may be different from Gruen...
