Don't know the story but not bad looking.

1952, after market second hand. I do wonder if the seller used the crystal remover to remove the case back, have to think that one over.

I don't believe that this case was ever used for a PanAm. But I do wish that I knew who did the work on the dial. That's a beautiful PanAm refinish.

It's working again. Agree with Cary that this seller is very good at refurbishing dials or has a good source. Usually his redials are of high quality.

Isn't that a Master Book import 255 model? The case lugs look very close. The heading in the Master Book says Guildite but the picture looks more like a gold case.

I couldn't agree more on the quality work he does on his dials. He does all of his own dial work and I think are the best you'll find these days.

Why the PT Barnum label MonKee? I'm no Pan Am expert but I don't think the listing is that far-fetched.

Sorry Mike but I believe Cary is correct. Import 255 was a Guildite case and to the best of my knowledge no gold or gold filled versions were produced by Gabus Freres . There are similar cases made in the USA that were gold filled but they were never used in the Pan American series. In this particular case the seller has assembled a watch of all Gruen components however Gruen never produced one like it. As to the Barnum reference, the saying "A sucker is born every minute" is attributed to him.

It's definitely not an Import. That's a Wadsworth case.

Yea, I agree, has some rough characteristics superficially, but the details don't support a valid model.
