With the nation gripped in Powerball fever what with the next drawing at least 1.3 BILLION. My question is if I were to win how many Gruen watches could I buy?

All of them? That is my plan anyway.

Additionally I would buy Time Hill and restore it to the 1950 state. Then I would retire all the Gruen Guild members (Forum members) and have a big dinner party on the hill.

I like your idea GaryM.
No amount of money would change my narrow area of interest, pre-1935 solid gold/silver/platinum/steel Quadrons, Straps, Tanks and Imports. Without attempting to tally up the models that fit those criteria, I'd guess around 250. But figure that many of them, particularly Imports, likely no longer exist, that probably narrows it down to maybe 175. And then there's my finicky condition requirements, and the odds of finding suitable examples of many of those models goes way down. So, I'll say with unlimited resources, I could amass a collection of maybe 75-100.

Oh Afire, surely with 1.3 billion you could spare a little pocket change to replicate those 150 missing watches.

It's something I've daydreamed about before. I wonder how much capital would be needed to set up shop to produce small runs of classic Gruen models. I'm sure 1.3B would do the trick, but I'd have a hard time even guessing. A lot. Maybe more than a lot.

I'd guess that 1.3M would do the job already...
