We took our annual springtime trip to the island to see the tulips. Nice weather and lots of people about.

That's beautiful, Gary! What a nice outing that must have been.

Which island?

Whidbey Island but not on the island per say. The farm is called Tulip Town and is on the outskirts of Mt Vernon.

I've only been up there once in my life. Stayed on Camano Island on our way to the "86 World's Fair in Vancouver.
We hopped over to Whidbey Island to have lunch at some place that had paper money, or maybe it was business cards papering all the walls... memory is a bit foggy on the details.

My best memory is waking up early and walking down to the shoreline on Camano Island and after a few minutes of looking out over the water, I caught something out the corner of my eye, looked over, and about thirty feet away was a bald eagle breakfasting on fresh fish. I was stunned and a bit frightened at how HUGE this eagle was!...It had to have been about 4 feet tall! I didn't stay more than another half a minute...then quietly left before I became dessert. Surprised It was surreal!

Great experience Liz! Yeah I'm not a native of this area but have settled in after all these years. I lived on Whidbey Island for 4 years being part of the military there. I'm settled now north of Seattle. I've seen those bald eagles and yes they are impressive!

An unbelievable moment for me was riding the Coupeville-Port Townsend ferry route, a Orca pod of several whales appeared off the starboard side of the ferry. People rushed to the the side to catch a view, this listed the ferry to starboard causing the pilot to slow down. What a site!

Years later riding the same route we saw a couple of tug boats towing a submarine out to the ocean from the town of Bremerton. A magnificent sight to see, reminding me of that movie Red October.

No tip-toeing through your tulips, more like snow-shoeing.
