Gruen Apprentice

I have a watch that belonged to my grandfather. I am trying to find out a couple of things;

Exactly what it is....name, style...etc.
Is it worth cleaning up & servicing? (it still runs, but could use a good service)
How much should it be worth (insurance purposes)

Movement Maker : Gruen
Movement Serial: 5270? Not sure...hard to read....but has 'B' marking as well.

Bracelet : Cromwell +1/20 12K gold filled (not the original, I'm sure)

lHi and welcome to the forum.
The nice watch which you are showing us here is called the "Ristside Falcon".
It is a so called "drivers watch" which could be worn at the side of the wrist as you have most likely have found out.
These models are highly sought after, so some people may pay $500 for it.
It was introduced probably late 1949 / early 1950.
