Post Order Poll[ 7 votes ]
1. Display posts oldest to newest? (default) 4 / 57%
2. Display posts newest to oldest? (proposed) 3 / 43%

Posts within a message thread show up as oldest to newest. Some users prefer this to be be reversed so that the newest post is always at the top of the thread. There is a code change that can be done to change the order replacing the sort ASC with sort DESC. However this is a global change and would affect all users.

Please vote your preference and post any comments you might have.

Thanks!

I like reading history in the order of occurrence. It is like opening a history book and seeing that Lee has surrendered thus rendering the occurrence at Ft Sumter as somewhat moot.

All I know is based on hard work & writing by others. I can only aspire to augment this body of knowledge. If I am wrong it is because of my own failings. -me

I'm okay with either method but for me i'm usually able to remember a thread fairly well and prefer seeing the latest posts rather than re-reading the thread.

Time, even vintage time, goes too fast for my tastes.

There are people who like to read the last page of the book (the clue Wink) at first. I am not that kind of person. I like it to be chronological. What most forums are by default. Very Happy

I understand the first to last thoughts but my point is that every time you go back to the thread (or book) you dont go back to the beginning and start over. That said however, the 'arrow' thingy alleviates my issue reasonably well.

I hear you on that on Mike! What we can do for you is make a recommendation to the FUDforum development team. Make it a user option, "theme selection".
