1. Yes - Invite mentors here to host their own forum. 2 / 29%
2. No- I do not care having mentors here at the forum. 2 / 29%
3. Don't care either way. 3 / 43%

I have been thinking of better ways to use Vintage Gruen as a means to prosper people as well as the Gruen enthusiast. Happiness of the people is just as important as the material we show here on the forum. If we try to prosper people, we become more successful, useful and a happier forum.

I am thinking about soliciting prospective mentors for the forum. Mentors who know a little more than the average Gruen collector and have a passion in a related field.

Some ideas:
-A mentor would get their own forum.
-The mentor would have full access control of their forum.
-Mentors can discuss any topic of their desire, Gruen related would be encouraged.

Mentors who are retailers and author types can take advantage and gauge the forum community on material that might be questionable for their selling/publishing. Mentors who also write papers for other organizations such as the NAWCC could find this very useful.

The benefits about having mentors is that is gives the forum community more of a sense of ownership in the forum. A comfort that there are matter experts who are real people not a pseudonym user giving advice.

Vote and reply with your pros and cons on the matter. This forum was started by many people, the many people should also own the direction that prosper the forum and make it successful.

Cheers!

Not a bad idea but I suspect the idea would be successful if the active membership was larger. Right now there are quite a number of members who have an in-depth knowledge on Gruen watches and they do most of the posting anyway. And despite my number of posts, i am not part of that group.... Smile

Still here....

Tend to agree with Mike. Most of the posts are providing in-depth answers and discussions already. It is very focused and there is not a lot of irrelevant chitchat going on so far. Once that starts happening I guess creating Mentors becomes more desirable.

Mikey, Thojil,

Thanks for the input! I tend to agree with you that most of us are already on the in-depth discussions side. If the trend continues I suspect it will stay that way. I will table this idea for the time being.

Agreed as well!

People you thought were your best friends will stab you in the back to your face!

Love them anyway.
