Hello Gruenites!!!

I am looking for a watch staff for a 425SS Doctor's watch that I am just starting restoration on. Anyone got one for sale?

Have a great evening, day, weekend, life!

Howdy brother Hurt,

Yep, just a staff! Everything else is there and in good shape. Still looking for a basic plain ole 420SS case and a sweep hand for the same.

Hope you do not consider this as hijacking the thread. I bought this one off ebay. I think the face is original. Have seen better dials on EBay. They looked redialed to me, as half of the 9 was cut off one of them. Can the face be cleaned and saved on this one? Is it original?

Notwillie,

I would posit that you've an original dial. It can be cleaned, but the adage that I suggest is don't clean anything you're not willing to redial. I suggest starting with soap and water and maybe a soft (like a cosmetic) brush. Forum member Trim pointed out in a thread long ago that the record groove like finish on the inside chapter of the dial will go away with refinishing. That is one thing that makes these dials.

Tomas - the 425ss staff is the same as the 405NM. If Cary isn't able to help I can; so can Borel.

On cleaning the dial.............I have used an extremely gentle hand soap and have ever so gently either used my index finger, and you can use a potter's sponge. Gently, gently ever so gently rub in an inconspicuous place and see what happens. However, this is not a "re-dial" I am with Jack on this one.

Thanks Jack on the staff. Let me see what I can find on the 155
