Notwillie,

I would posit that you've an original dial. It can be cleaned, but the adage that I suggest is don't clean anything you're not willing to redial. I suggest starting with soap and water and maybe a soft (like a cosmetic) brush. Forum member Trim pointed out in a thread long ago that the record groove like finish on the inside chapter of the dial will go away with refinishing. That is one thing that makes these dials.

Tomas - the 425ss staff is the same as the 405NM. If Cary isn't able to help I can; so can Borel.

All I know is based on hard work & writing by others. I can only aspire to augment this body of knowledge. If I am wrong it is because of my own failings. -me
