Yes, this is a caliber from the early Gruen Alpina joint venture days. I have an Alpina 1722 which is the sister movement with 15 jewels which can be dated 1925 due to a dedication inscription in the watch.

Gruen and Alpina worked together already before they officially merged in Europe, definitely they cooperated in 1925 already. This might be one of the early tries of Gruen to sell watches in Europe at that time. Never seen one of these before, thanks a lot for sharing.
