Agree with the dating perhaps +1-2 years. I have many examples of nickel Wadsworth house cases and a couple hardened sterlings (unsigned for Gruen) from this time. I can put them in between a 1928 wadsworth case patent and a 1934 patent for the sterling hardening process (their second submission).
Using Elgin case #s, serial #s & engravings, I have found Wadsworth house crossed 8.4MM just before Christmas 1931.
My two caveats:
1) I'm wrong many times a day --just ask my wife!
2) Always seeking to learn more
