I'm putting this in the 1930s because my general sense is that before 1930, Gruen was pretty consistent in it's use of that dark brown tiger striped covering material. It seems like 1930 was around the time they started branching out with other colors and shapes.

I have looked long and hard at this box with a loupe in natural light and can find no markings whatsoever. If there ever was any identifying information, it must have been on a long gone sticker.

Whoa, that colour is intense, never seen one like that before, very cool.
I have a couple of these same type boxes (paper maché?) in 4.25 inch and 6.50 inch. One with gold trim. One with green. Although the green looks like it could be oxidized copper. Also no makers mark.

What a nice green gruen box.

Are there any clues on the factory guarantee paper about the date?

Beige for the ladies? I have one, also green trim on the lid but the bottom still has some golden shine (when the light comes from a specific angle). I expect some discolouration.

I would say definitely the same source. I've never seen this box before either. I'm "glad" to hear your boxes are also unmarked. I was thinking I must be missing something. I guess not.

Nope. It's just a standard insert we've seen many times.
