Steve,
welcome to the Gruen forum! You did already do a very good job describing the watch and seem to have investigated very well. Indeed your watch was produced between 1939 and 1942, in fact it has been built 1941 or 1942.
The model is called the Veri-Thin Broadway, has a 15 jewel caliber 381 movement. It was the only Gruen pocket watch model that came in a Guildite case with pink gold-filled trim at that time. It was the entry model of their pocket watches with a suggested retail price of $33.75. A year later Gruen was not allowed to use their Guildite called stainless steel for watch production because these materials had to go into weapon production. In the 1942/43 produced watches the steel was replaced by silver.
Keep an eye on it, it is a nice watch!
Best regards
Bernd

Thanks a lot for your confirmation, Thomas.
If you want to add another datapoint to your data base, here comes the data about my VT-Broadway:
Case serial G366154, movement 4-126507. Same case but the mentioned silver version from the year after and different dial (plain single color).

It is the same like this one here, 381 based.
Jack, I hear you. Need to take time to clean it a little bit and taking photos. I know, it is always the same excuse, but it is the truth.

Thank you to the guys that responded so quickly. I had a long week at work and wasn't able to get back on here. Nice to know that I was on the right path with my research. This watch will not be going anywhere except to the next generation in my family. My grandfather purchased this watch brand new back in 1941 or 42, he survived WW2 with it and many years of working in the local forge.
The watch does still work too, runs a little slow I may have it looked at to see if it can be set properly. Wouldn't mind carrying it from time to time.
Thanks again for all the input and have a great weekend!
