Howdy Gruenites,
I am in need of a good balance assembly for a 210 or whatever else fits. Please contact me if you have one for sale/swap/buy. One of the fellers here on the forum was kind enough to send me work, but those darn tiny 210 staffs, can be monsters to restaff. I opt for another working balance assembly. Please let me know.

I have lots of 210 parts but not one good balance assembly. I have a good 215 and a 225 here but I'm not sure if they'll fit. The '53 material catalogue seems to indicate the balance staffs are different. The 215 and the 210 are the same size movement though so maybe its a reasonably simple job to swap over the dial / hands etc onto a 215? If you want to consider doing this I'll send it out to you on Monday.

Thanks to Jason, Mikey, Gary, Barney Green, and Monkee! Yep, its a 210SS. I have 2, 211ss, but the staffs are broken on those too. Like I said, my right hand is still not there yet, but I can staff....just not the tiny guys. 300-400 series is where I draw the line. BTW, this watch repair is for a fellow here on the forum. Barney, I will let you know as soon as I know. Thanks you for your kindness!

Well, it isn't the re-staffing that bothers me, it's the manipulation of the parts. When I screwed up my thumb, I screwed up my "hand" dominate thumb, as in the right hand. I still have the thumb, the nail grew back, but the end is numb, and I have a hard time with mechanical dexterity, as it were. I started with the big 18s American pocket watches, and staffing is a piece of cake, but as I progressed to finer higher end watches, I found that I need that right thumb for minute details to the furthest degree! Services and 95% of other work, not an issue, but tiny restaffs??? For example, I have a beautiful ladies Curvex that needs staffed, 2 211ss "nurses watch" that need staffed, but until I get back on my feet and get this hand working, then they will have to sit. Sad really....I would love to see some lovely lady wearing a beautiful vintage Gruen that I restored. (((((LONG LIVE GRUENS))))))
