My mom has passed away so I don't have any information other than this. She received the watch in her late teens/early 20's which would have put it around 1950. She won one of the diamonds and my father bought the other diamond and had them set in the watch. Hopefully the pictures will help with identification. I just had it overhauled but didn't ask the store for any information from the inside of the watch. Thanks for any help given. Ruth

Hi Ruth,

nice watch in a very modern design of the early 50th. At that time these fancy shaped crystals emerged.
The diamonds are very nicely set and it looks like the watch came with them. But you are perfectly right the original model was without the diamonds.
I have a few ads showing this watch which was named "Carmen". The ads all date from 1954 and 1955 but I assume that the watch has been introduced a year earlier which was 1953. It has a Swiss made 17 jewel precision movement which was called the 275.
This watch was sold for $71,50 with a matching bracelet which seems to have been replaced meanwhile. The original bracelet has been narrower. Also the crown looks like it has been replaced recently that might probably have been part of the overhaul.

Thanks Barney. I appreciate your response. Is there a way I can see the other ads for this watch? Also would you know if there would be a market for this? I am interested to see what it's current value would be and what price it would fetch. I could pass this down to the next generation but I think they could use the financial help more. Just wondering if there is value which could be used. Ruth

Barney, as usual, has his information spot on! As for the value, unfortunately there is very little demand for ladies watches of this type in the used watch market. At very best you might get $50 - $60. Sad

Mike is correct with the pricing. Normally I pay around $35 for a two diamond Gruen of the period. The low prices were the main reason why I have started to collect ladies watches, they are simply easier to afford for me. Plus they are often nicer styled, many more variations then with the gents models.

Since your watch is a unique piece I would be interested in it. If you would like to sell it just write me a private message.
