Import 103 is pretending that it didn't hear that.
GaryM wrote on Sat, 21 November 2015 09:16Was this watch was the inspiration for the Curvex design?
I would imagine not, but it does feature a prominent curve, more so than any pre-Curvex Gruen I've ever owned.
JackW wrote on Sat, 21 November 2015 09:17Who did the dial? They did a great job it looks like. Also is there no Sponsor's Mark for the gold case? If so, think that would put this pre-1933.
I would suspect that it's definitely pre-1933. I would think around 1925. I'll have to order Mike's 1927 book, but I'm guessing this series of watches was already out of production by then.
And International did the dial. I broke with my usual etiquette and included written instructions for Robert on this one. The only risk you really take with a hard enamel print dial like this is that some of the print comes off in the stripping process. So I asked him to be extra gentle with this one. That said, I had looked closely at the print under magnification and it looked to be very solid so I was pretty confident it would be okay.
