Hey there Barney,
Quote:Dial and serial number make me think that it is either a late model probably built in 1956
You know something on the movement serials that is new? Or new to me?
Mike's and Barry's case style number returns a date of 1951 on the 750, which is a nice lower limit for the watch.
I don't diagree that it looks later 50's... the case is similar to the strap 947 (p178 of Bruce's book) but the dial seems more strap 1006 (p184, ibid). Mike B's 1950 Decade book isn't showing anything that looks like the watch in question, between 1952 and 1955. There are dials back to 1950 that are using only indices and markers rather than numbers for the hours. The fact that the watch has a cal 435 in it makes me want to error towards the earlier side of the decade. To me, starting about 1955, most manual wind watches (non-Curvex) seem to be either a cal 415/422 series (round) or the cal. 335 (barrel). But that Gruen font on the case back screams later 1950s. Even post 1958. Weird one to try to nail down.
