I just tried the Bay, and I did find a few, but this particular watch is closer to a Military variation, and that's what I'm looking at. This movement screams of 1940/dial/strap, and so on. Now, I'm not sure that Gruen sold to the military direct as in issue, but I think they sold at the USOs and PXs throughout the US. I want to wear this one with my daily uniform, and I have illumination material to re-illume the hands. I did not see the shock protection on this one, but when I referenced the movement in our database, it came up 1940. Jack, am I lost here, or drunk again? Lol!

So my question is this.........what does the "SS" stand for? The movement I currently have is a "415 SS"

Gee........I thought it meant "Super Stud", or "Semi Stupid" like me! I actually that the SS was relegated to serial number proper and had no idea it meant "sweeps seconds". Ahh, just something you learn along the way. Thanks so much, and have a good laugh on me!
