This was an interesting find upon opening my newest 833 model:
Did this happen intentionaly or unintentionaly at the factory; or was it a repairman's substitution?
The ratchet wheel isn't normally a part that needs replacing. Very interesting.

I did have the thought that this could be the backside.
Now I'll have to go check out a couple other 833's....

Update: I checked the back of the ratchet wheel of 2 spare 833s and they are blank. Curious.
... just checked a third with serial number closer to the posted movement and its blank also.

Unintentionaly at the factory I would guess highly unlikely as it would have never passed through quality control from my perspective.
More likely a repairman's substitute. This happened(s) frequently with Gruen 877 and the Rolex 300 calibers I heard, where Gruen 877 movements are used for donor parts to restore a Rolex Prince which has a 3-4 times higher value than a Gruen Techni Quadron

It was the backside showing. I just find it hard to believe a jeweler would have put it in upside-down;
but it does have multiple repair marks.
