Watches, watches, watches.........what shall I do with this vintage watch that has been in my family for 90 years? This is a question I have really heard quite often. My point? Perhaps it is time for you, dear reader, to learn the ancient art of watch repair. To actually get on old timepiece up and running again, can be amazing super exciting! Imagine your Great Grandfather's pocket watch keeping time yet once again.
Sometimes, all it needs is a COA (Cleaning, Overhaul, and Adjustment). This requires completely taking the watch apart, cleaning EVERYTHING in the watch, new mainspring, and hopefully it fires back up and runs. Of course, this is the most hoped for and simplistic approach. Some folks don't want the added expense of a new mainspring, but it makes all the difference in the world, as in the watch running for 22-26 hours (old mainspring) of 34-36 hours (new mainspring). So much more to add, but hopefully, the future will afford me the time to do so.
