While collecting data for my <1935 research I see a lot of watches on Ebay. And some... I can't let go. Right now I buy about 1 watch a month. Most of them between $10 and $25, keeping the hobby affordable (and avoiding import taxes). Very Happy

At the moment I've got 12 working wearable Gruen watches. I am sure I haven't achieved the number of watches Cary owns... Wink

Added pictures. The watch I wear the most. Thought it was lost in the washing machine, but no, just somewhere in a box.

I had some attempts to identify the original owner. No luck. The closest was a girl with that name that visited family in Wisconsin. But not in a year the watch is from. Any tips for my search?

And yes, this beauty still needs a name!

Jenneke,

I do not think that you will find a name for this watch. 14 diamonds and gold filled does not go together well. I think that the diamond setting was added later by a jeweler on demand. I have a couple of watches which were treated that way.

May be I am wrong, but I could not find such a watch in any publication.

In my eyes this makes the watch even more worthy, it should be one of a kind.

I like it a lot!

Aftermarket, hmmm. I was under the impression that diamonds were cheap in those days, so never doubted its originality. How could one be sure? One of a kind sounds great Very Happy

Do you have other options with same style but without or with less diamonds?

To me the "Empress" looks like a good candidate for the base.
