I salvaged the wreckage of what used to be a a Veri-Thin Strap 391 also known as the Veri-Thin "flip-top". Why on earth would I do this? Well, the case has no brassing, the dial will come out like new once I gave it a bath, the movement is clean and I paid just 35$. The only issue it has .... is the flipping top is missing Laughing

So before I start commissioning a case repair shop to reproduce one I want to ask for the impossible. Does anybody here happen to have a cover or complete case of a "flip-top" somewhere in a forgotten drawer?

Let me know.

Exactly! How did you keep that precious lettering from fading?

Most of my dials take a bath in a standard silver cleaning solution (eg Hagarty is well known brand in Europe). I have achieved good results sofar without deterioration of the print. I will try to do this one over the weekend and post the result.

Here is the result after cleaning. The dial cleaned up very well, but unfortunatelly I lost a bit of the gold on some of the numbers. I guess it was my own mistake as I probably rubbed them a bit too much.

Soooo, where can I get this dial cleaner? If they have a web address, or something of the sort?
