Martin, great that you found the maker!

The F.H. Noble & co was established in 1876 and was situated at (553-) 559 W 59th st Chicago (building is gone).

They made jewelry boxes, badges, emblems, pins and rings. I am not sure but it could be they switched to cremation urns.

The patent i think the box might refer to, is US1906111A Box for displaying jewelry and the like, by John M Shields. Filed march 8 1930 and published april 25 1933. The patent focusses on a container (any suitable construction) with a collapsible display frame(Velvet covered). That watch holder has the same shape, not that “hingie” though.
