Quick recommendation for "Montoya Watch Service" in Bellflower, CA. Jorge Montoya is a fascinating guy -- born in Nicaragua to a family in the jewelry/watch business, spent time in Switzerland learning watchmaking as a teenager, arrested by the communist regime, spent time as a political prisoner and then refugee, came to California, and then worked for Rolex for 20 years. Super nice guy, he did a great job on a couple of repairs I just sent him. He kept me updated with photos and videos throughout his (quick and reasonably priced) repairs. He's not the cheapest option, to be sure, but I really enjoyed working with him and will use him again. He gave me one of his old Bergeon cannon pinion removers, since I mentioned that I was having trouble finding a quality one that was affordable.
