A snap-on dial is one without feet, that is held on by a friction interference fit around the outside rim. You have to pry the dial off to remove it. They are common on high-end Swiss grades (not that I am implying that this on is particularly high end). The dial is also glass enamel - the best quality of its day - and "fancy".

Overall, this presents as a high-end movement but it is deceptive due to the jeweling.
