They started earlier with precision movements. See picture below. It says "Präcisions Uhren" and is dated 20 August 1898.


You are right, I wasn't really clear by what I meant. I was referring to the movements that Gruen started selling after they stopped the Assmann joint venture and switched to Swiss produced movements.
