Green velvet top with black “rim”. Same in bottom. Hinged. Gruen service crest inside top. Army green bottom. Watch holder from black velvet. Dent in lid not as designed.

Gruen Autowind Rocket

I have my grandfather's Gruen and was having trouble figuring out the different codes/numbers to determine when it was made. Below is the information from inside the case, I'm hoping this is something this group can help me decipher.

There are also some etchings that seem to be from when the watch was serviced over the years, the first of which appears to be 1961. Finally, I'm not sure if this is correct, but the serial number appears to be 1560, and there's an "F" in a crown-like shape immediately before the number. Thanks!

Blue plastic mens display case. The box has gold lining and five "signs". Inside is a blue velvet/plush/plastic watch holder, blue fabric and in the top lit off white with the Gruen logo, Gruen name and The Precision Watch.

Lavina supplying Gallet (Gruen 766)

Not much discussion of Lavina lately, and scarce info on the forum on the early Lavina calibers like 720, 721. But even less on the caliber 766--have never even seen one actual picture. I wanted to share an interesting specimen, reported as 12 size, finished by Gallet & Co.

It has the characteristic setting bridge on the 720, 750 variants, as well as the Lavina serial number and "Deposé" markings placed exactly as seen on the open-face ones made for Gruen/Premo/WSC. Likely there's a Lavina or Paul William Brack deposé hiding somewhere for this bridge layout.

But this Gallet is Swiss set, so here we also see the setting bits just like the Gruen Caliber 766.
