This Christmas I was up with my great-uncle and we were organizing some of his closets. We came across this watch and he can't even remember when/where he got it. It's still in the original case and looks like it has never been used. No wear or scratches at all and probably is the original band. Winds and runs just fine including the switching between 1-12 to 13-24. I've wound it and let it run the past couple days and it is keeping perfect time. I'm just looking for more info. I think I have IDed it as a Gruen Airflight but it seems like there are a bunch of varieties of those out there and besides the ad below, I haven't seen one identical to this watch. Any info is appreciated (including value estimates). Thanks!

Model name : Airlfight Jump Hour, Maybe Airflight II?
Type : Gold Wristwatch

Back. It has a little white sticker, not sure if I should peel it off to see if there's a serial number or something else engraved underneath?

Ad I found online, it looks just like this one which makes me think it's an Airflight II but I can't find any info on how that's different than a basic Airlfight

Hi there,

looks like a perfect Airflight example, congratulations! You are showing an ad from Big Ben Watches (hopefully you have the allowance to show it here!). Regarding your question between the Airflight and the version II you can have a look at the watch which they are showing on that side. The II is the later model with differend lugs, just compare. The Airflight was introduced about 1958 and lastet at least until 1969. At some point in time the model was adopted to the taste of the new decade. So I'd say your watch is from the late 60s.
In the perfect condition it is, with the box and the for sure original band I would say that people would pay up to $1000. My personal opinion is that it is not really worth that money, but that is my personal opinion. Minimum money you should get for it is $400.

Very nice find indeed! Looks new as you say and these are rather desirable by collectors.

putting on my mod's hat... I'm assuming you have permission for the copyrighted photo as Barney indicates is needed... See our FAQs on posting images. FYI the advert it self isn't copyrighted; that expired long ago but the photograph of it is potentially.

ps... leave the plastic thing alone if you are selling it. If keeping it wear it in good health!

Thanks for the info guys, it's definitely an interesting piece. The newest development is someone wrote me from the forums and purchased it today. It's good it's going to a collector who will appreciate and use it, not just sit in a closet collecting dust! So I was a Gruen owner for a whole 4 days, wristwatches don't last in my job working under truck and with machinery all day long...
