I've recently inherited my grandfather's Gruen Airflight. He passed in 1960, and unfortunately my family has no knowledge of this watch's history. I recently had it restored, and the shop provided me the following numbers from inside the case:
Movement Caliber: 422RSS
Other Numbers: 130 / 422SS-108 / 19266
I'd greatly appreciate any information you could provide on the watch. Please note that the bracelet is new (Hirsch), not an original component. Thanks!

Very nice watch in a very good shape!
It looks like the very first version from 1958 which was not yet called Airflight but "Super-G". At that time they had the Gruen Geneve and the embossed logo on the dial, later the watches were marked Gruen Precision and the logo was printed. It is equipped with a caliber 422RSS movement (R for the shock proof system and SS for sweep second), the -108 should be the style number meaning 1108.
Other markings seem to be sevice marks, I guess February, 19th, 1966 was the first sevice date at a watch maker, but that could be the serial number as well.

Barney,
Thank you very much for the quick response, and the tremendous detail. When I was researching online for Super G/Airflight watches, I noticed that, unlike my grandfather's watch, the 1957/1958 introductory model seemed to have an embossed "Super G" logo on the watch face as well. This advertisement shows that detail. Do you think there were other versions in that year, or perhaps that the "Super G" logo was only on the initial year's model, and then pulled in subsequent years? To your point, I've also seen models with the "Precision" logo on the face, and wonder when that was introduced. My watch features neither marking, which I find curious.
Thanks again!

Just checking to see if anyone in the community has any thoughts on my previous note:
