I have a broken clutch lever I need for this 707. I have a part movement 704 but it has different bits. Crying or Very Sad

Any spares out there?

Thanks in advance!

if the spares dont fly out of a drawer, It seems ofrei and scotchwatch might have them.

Yeah, neither JB nor ofrei had them. I could get the ole lot of clutch springs from scotchwatch and craft my own. I would hate to part up a good 707 for it.

Found one at ofrei! I got out a nail and was going to file and saw one out but will save that effort for something rarer.

Gosh. I guess it was between the boxes with old springs, screws, hands and rubies. Very Happy
I am accumulating too Shocked

Glad you found it. I thought I saw one while looking for spares for my 707.

And how does the rest of the watch look like? Smile

Not so good, loosened the hairspring stud and removed the bridge.

Shocked

Now to find a new hairspring. Looks like I'll need a new mainspring as well. A little bit of everything...Side notes the main spring barrel wheel has a left-handed screw along with the ratchet wheel. First time seeing that in any teardown.

Finding a hairspring is a lost cause I guess? Or was it in any way standardised. Problem is if you want to clean and oil the balance, you”ll have to remove that balance. Havent dared it yet.

All of the Lavina 7xx movements probably have a left handed screw on the barrel. My 75x and 740 have it too.

Fun learning project! Laughing

I believe any Gruen hairspring 18,000 bph will do, have to verify though if the spring is an overcoil or flat. Page 377 of Mike's green book shows the vibration chart. I have another 707 in the wings I'll break open and verify.

Ahh, verified it's a flat regulator so ofrei has them in stock. Just have to look at the balance wheel and see if Gruen put a reference dot to line the stud back up. Obviously I couldn't mark it.

Gary,

If you haven’t yet ordered the clutch spring, I have it, and tons of other 707 parts. Let me know if you still need it.
